The map behind this box is a composite of several infrared bands from two
Spitzer Space Telescope surveys, MIPSGAL and GLIMPSE, that span along the
galactic plane. In the central region of this map, the map's height in
galactic coordinates is roughly -2 < b < 2 (degrees). As you deviate from the
center to right or left the height range becomes -1 < b < 1. The width
spans over -65 < l < 65.
The markers point out some well known objects contained in the region of this survey. Over time
more markers will be placed as new objects of interest are noted. The survey contains a vast amount
of information and serendipitous discoveries are likely. Please note that the image wraps from edge to edge
in this map. If you have any questions visit our main page
